One of the nation’s foremost distributors of crop protection and crop production inputs and services for agricultural, turf & ornamental, forestry, aquatics and vegetation management markets looking for a UNIX Systems Administrator.

SUMMARY:
Performs installation, configuration and maintenance of the UNIX operating systems and related software products in a manner consistent with our existing service level agreements. Ensures performance monitoring and tuning of overall system. Must primarily perform work requiring advanced learning or work that is original and creative. Also, must consistently exercise independent choice and judgment or perform work requiring invention, imagination or talent in a recognized field of artistic endeavor 50% or more of the time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Works with the application teams and other IT department personnel to coordinate system software changes and support application changes.
Analyzes production and test system problems, determines causes, and takes timely corrective actions.
Oversees the administration of the UNIX operating system. Recommends systems and programming standards and procedures including writing shell scripts or programs to automate and/or simplify the UNIX administration procedures.

Recommends and implements security policies and standards and ensures adherence to procedures.
Keeps accurate records of AIX system failures and changes.
Provides user account setup and maintains existing accounts.
Performs tape storage management and administration using Tivoli Storage Manager.
Conducts preliminary studies for new data processing projects related to machine utilization, capacity planning, and network topology.
Establishes and maintains contact with key vendors for maintenance and services.
Develops, documents and maintains IP addressing, Domain Name Serves (DNS) and NIS.
Reconfigures remote location printers. Installs and maintains the installation’s software. This includes software such as the operating systems, databases, utilities, etc.
Monitors system performance and develops recommendations for correction or improvement. Implements changes as appropriate.
Evaluates and recommends hardware and software products for purchase that are consistent with the organization’s objectives.
Maintains a disaster recovery plan. Creates backup capabilities adequate for the recovery of data.
Installs and monitors UPS software for the ability to shut down the system.
Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field from an accredited four-year college or university and five years experience in a large-scale systems environment with at least four years UNIX (AIX) systems administration and two years in PC networking. Requires thorough systems knowledge and experience relative to systems administration.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of Windows 2000/XP, Microsoft Office 2000, MS Outlook, McAfee Virus, Ethernet, ArcServe, and PC Anywhere.
Knowledge of TCP/IP, FTP, DNS, NIS, and Point to Point Protocol (PPP).
Familiarity with AIX system administration.
Knowledge of LPARs and HACMP.
Good communication skills.
Good problem solving skills.
Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Good customer service skills.
Ability to set priorities and work on multiple tasks.
Experience with Oracle database and/or applications a plus.

Must Have:

We are looking for a candidate with market data knowledge, UNIX skills, understanding of metadata, excellent communication and problem solving skills. Ours is a small group with big responsibilities. Candidate should be a quick learner who enjoys real-time market data applications and trouble-shooting in a fast paced environment.
Desired Skills & Experience
• Working understanding of global Market Data usage including real time data from exchanges and OTC markets, security identification and reference data
• At least 3 years experience in a UNIX environment

Assumes responsibility for the organization, implementation, support and management of electronic storage content and data, including but not limited to additions, moves and changes to the local and remote Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems. Utilizing industry best practices provides technical and functional support for the various systems and applications for storing electronic content and data. Must primarily perform office or non-manual work directly related to management policies or general business operations. Also, must exercise independent choice and judgment in matters of consequence 50% or more of the time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.
Evaluate, implement and manage Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems, equipment, related systems and services for headquarters and remote locations.
Coordination of business processes and technology to develop and document enterprise electronic and paper records management strategies ensuring a consistent vision for future and chosen technologies are sustainable.

Manage ECM solutions performing the object development, implementation, qualification of final product via user acceptance testing and operational readiness at the time of delivery.
Perform installation and upgrades of hardware, software and ensuring on time completion of projects. Participate in the renewal of maintenance contracts and resolution of disputes of non-performance.
Develop and deploy various types of configuration and application components including object models, document OCR, security and user management based on business requirements and policies.
Define and develop repeatable and/or customized content management solutions.

Develop design and operational documentation that includes workflow use cases, context diagrams, vendor and product evaluations, requirements documents, operational support documentation, test cases and training material.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
